Tubigon Loomweavers Multi-purpose Cooperative

Loomweavers. Doesn’t the word itself evoke rustic charm? Hello from Bohol! The signage of the Tubigon Loomweavers Multi-Purpose Cooperative (TLMPC) has been catching my eye on my morning runs, thus I made a mental note to come back and see what loomweaving is about. Today I took my trusty bike, Dingding, and set out to Brgy. Pinayagan Norte, Tubigon to scope out the place.

Turns out the loomweaving industry here has been around since 1989 and is one of Bohol’s success stories. The TLMPC showcases products made of raffia, the straw extracted from the leaf of the buri palm, a plant that grows abundantly in Bohol. Since I came a little too early, I got to see only a few loomweavers in action. You may request the loomweavers to customize the style and size of the products, but waiting time will depend on how busy they are. Check out their bags, wallets, placemats, table runners, mats, folio cases, and other products.
